Silencing the Praise Of Christ

Stones of Silence

64679908 - golden silence 3d text

Today begins the journey of remembrance for Holy Week.  That week that our Lord and our Savior started His journey into Jerusalem for the preparation of offering His body as a sacrifice for us.

Me.  You.  Everyone.

Luke 19:40 – He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Have you ever been asked to remain silent?  To not lift up your voice in praise of Jesus?  To not openly worship Him?

I have.

I have been told at times to not show my affection for my Lord and my Savior.  To remain as a stone – silent.

So this morning as I read my Scripture for the day, I realized that it was the beginning of the story of Jesus Christ coming into Jerusalem on that glorious day – the day that we call Palm Sunday.  That first day that Jesus was honored as He prepared to offer Himself as a sacrifice for you – for me – for everyone.  For anyone who would call upon His Name as Their Lord and Savior.

Take time today and read from Luke 19.  It is Holy Week.

Remember the words that Jesus spoke to the Pharisees that day – when He was asked to rebuke His disciples and tell them to be quiet.

For many churches today, children will be taught about that glorious entrance into Jerusalem on a donkey and how people put out the palm leaves on the road to honor Him as He descended into Jerusalem.  The children will be encouraged to praise Him.

BUT somewhere along the way – on that journey of remembrance – someone will silence the children.  May I never be found guilty of silencing anyone in praise of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

For me, I can no longer remain silent when it comes to my Lord and my Savior.  I will sing.  I will lift my hands.  And if the Holy Spirit stirs within me to dance – I will dance.

Give praise – give glory – give shouts of hallelujah to Our King!

My song for the beginning of this glorious week ahead of me – that journey of remembrance is:

Let Everyone Who Has Breath

Sing of His Love Forever

I saw this beautiful image this morning on Facebook posted by “Women Made For His Glory.”  It brought back treasured memories of my childhood – I loved to sing in church.  I loved the hymns.

Sing of His Love!

Yes, I could sing of His love forever.

I love the early morning hours.  I seem to notice it more in the winter months.  For it is at first light, that I hear the singing of the birds outside my office window – singing love songs to their Creator.

I am fortunate to live up in an area surrounded by trees and wildlife.  There are still birds out and about in Nineveh, Indiana.  Redbirds.  Bluebirds. Chickadees. Nuthatch.

Yes, it can be quite a chorus of praise rising up in honor of the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

This morning, I leave a love song for you today.  It is sung by Hillsong.  Truly a song of love and praise for our Heavenly Father.

I Could Sing of Your Love Forever

May there be a chorus heard around the world today – honoring our Lord and our Savor.

Be Glorified

In My House Lord – Be Glorified – Be Glorified

In my quiet moments with the Lord this morning, these words flooded my mind – my heart – my soul.

In My Life, Lord – Be Glorified Today

It speaks out to what is happening around me these days.  In the midst of conflict, chaos, hatred, and rebellion.

We have forgotten our roots – Colossians 2:7 – Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Two words.  Simple words.  Be Glorified.

I can take those simple words and put any words in front of it and make it a worshipful song of honor to Him:

  • In my house, Lord
  • In my life, Lord
  • In your Church, Lord

Whatever I am doing – Lord, Be Glorified Today.

As I head into this New Year 2017, I am looking forward to “SAVORING” my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  What He has done for me over these many years – His patience in watching me grow closer to His Heart – at times my heart beating as one with His.

Today, I leave a song that has blessed my morning alone with my God – a chorus hymn that many of His children have sung over the years.  My prayer today, is that you will be able to connect in some way with Him and take the time to savor those memories of times past with Him.

For the Eyes of the Lord

Day 31 – Unfolding God’s Word

There are so many key verses and awestruck scriptures within the Word of God.  It is great to park at different treasure chests and unfold small portions of scripture.  BUT we need the whole counsel of God to live by – we can’t take certain words out and try to live by just those treasures.

Today, I followed the Lord to a treasure chest marked 1 Peter 3 – then I picked verse 12 to share with you today.

Eyes of the Lord

1 Peter 3:12 – The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil.”  (NLT)

Many times, as God’s children, we think we can hide things from Him.  Our lies.  Our anger.  Our rebellious behavior.  It is done in secret so I should be safe.  NOT!  God knows everything!  He knows what I will do long before I actually do it.

Remember that His eyes are watching – those who are righteous – His eyes see and his ears are open to their prayers.  BUT God does not hear from those who do evil.

It is so important to be in God’s Word daily.  We need the whole counsel of God to speak to us.  God has given us a book that has all the answers to our problems, our trials, our tribulations.  Seek His Counsel always.

Key Words from unfolding God’s Word for the month of October have been:  Listen – Obey – Trust.  These words are important to follow.  We have an election coming up next week.  We need to know the heart of God – so that we do what is right in His eyes and His ears will be open to our prayers.

2 Chronicles 16:9 – For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. (ESV)

His eyes are always searching for those whose heart is blameless toward Him.  He sees.  He knows.  He seeks.  He gives strong support to those whose hearts are following hard after Him.

As I close this challenge of writing for 31 days, I want to share a song that I love.  We are in the middle of storms in our Nation.  We need to hold on to God more than ever before.  Seek Him daily.  Ask to have His Heart:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the treasures that I have discovered this month by daily walking in Your Word – unfolding fine treasures each day.  Father, may my heart always be for you and not against you.  I pray for those who have come along side of me this month – sharing in the journey of walking Your Path.  May we continue to walk upon this path of righteousness that leads us to the heart of God.  I love you, Lord.  I ask this in Jesus Christ’s name, amen.

Be Still – Know God – Day 30

Day 16 – Unfolding God’s Word

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.

Today is the Lord’s Day – a day when followers of Christ come together to worship and praise the Heavenly Father.  It is a day where we come together.

Even the Sparrow finds a home

The Lord had me unfold His Word this morning in Psalm 84:

Psalm 84:1-12 – How lovely is your dwelling place,O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord;my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.  Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.  Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise!Selah  Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.  As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.  They go from strength to strength;each one appears before God in Zion.  O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;give ear, O God of Jacob!Selah  Behold our shield, O God;look on the face of your anointed!  For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.  For the Lord God is a sun and shield;the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.  O, Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you! (ESV)

The word Blessed is found three times in this Scripture:

  1. Blessed are those who dwell in your house – ever singing your praise!
  2. Blessed are those whose strength is in you.  They go from strength to strength.
  3. Blessed is the one who trusts in Him.

We are so blessed to be called the Children of God.  He says that He will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly.

This is a true treasure find in the Word of God.  Be blessed today.

I have attached a beautiful song by Matt Redman that is based on this Psalm – what a way to praise our Heavenly Father this day:

Better is One Day

Day 15 – Unfolding God’s Word

Why Do I Worship God?

The enemy has battled since the beginning of times to keep God’s children from worshipping and praising Him.

For many years I was in bondage literally tied up and not allowed to freely worship God.  I grew up in a church that a piano was not even used.  The only way I could show more praise from my heart was to just sing louder.  And yet, deep down in my soul, I wanted and needed much more.

The topic of worship is well and alive in churches all over the world.  Why do we spend so much time arguing over how we should worship God? Continue reading
